(Update: Adding video)

MADRAS, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The $30 million U.S. Highway 97 Earl Street to Colfax Lane (Madras) project will increase safety and add longevity to the transportation infrastructure along U.S. 97 and U.S. 26 in Madras, according to ODOT, which held an open house on the project Tuesday night.

The agency says portions of the highway will be repaved, ADA curb ramps and sidewalks built, signals upgraded, and pedestrian crossings enhanced. The project will also include improved stormwater drainage and bridge repair.

ODOT invited citizens to attend their Tuesday evening open house at the Madras Performing Arts Center to learn more about the project.
