Four die in Sweet Home manufactured home fire

SWEET HOME, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Four people were killed in a fire that destroyed a manufactured home fire early Tuesday morning in the Linn County community of Sweet Home, officials said.

The Sweet Home Fire District responded shortly before 7 a.m. to a reported structure fire in the 1500 block of Tamarack Street, officials said.

Fire crews found a manufactured home with flames coming from three sides of the home. The fire was reported by a passer-by who tried to alert the occupants, officials said.

Firefighters found four people dead inside of the structure. A total of 21 firefighters from the Sweet Home Fire District responded to the blaze.

An investigation is being conducted that also involves the Sweet Home Police Department, Oregon State Fire Marshal's Office and Oregon State Police.

Fire Chief Dave Barringer told The Oregonian/Oregon Live the fire took about 15 minutes to extinguish He said authorities were trying to determine the relationship between the people who died. He declined to immediately release their ages.
