Redmond Proficiency Academy, community to launch ‘Redmond Cares’
Food, household items collection program to help with COVID-19 impacts
REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Redmond Proficiency Academy, along with members of the Redmond community, including staff members from Camp Tamarack, are launching Redmond Cares on Tuesday.
The food and household items collection program was quickly put together to mitigate the economic impacts felt in the community as a result of COVID-19, according to Jon Bullock, RPA’s executive director.
“With RPA and all schools in the region closed due to COVID-19 and many folks not working because of the virus, it has brought a financial disruption to families in our community,” Bullock said in Monday's announcement. “Our team decided we wanted to be a part of the solution and help out those who may be struggling during this unprecedented time.”
Community members are encouraged to participate by doing one or all of the following:
- Donate money to Redmond Cares to allow for the purchase of food and supplies;
- Donate food and supplies to Redmond Cares;
- Volunteer to sort, pack, and deliver food and supply boxes for Redmond Cares;
- Spread the word on social media and in our community about Redmond Cares.
Individuals interested in volunteering should register at tiny.cc/RedmondCares.
Along with non-perishable foods, RPA is also collecting toiletries, sanitation supplies, books and art/crafting supplies. For the complete list of items and drop-off guidelines, please visit tiny.cc/RedmondCaresLetter.
RPA will accept donations every Tuesday and Wednesday from 3 to 6 p.m. in RPA’s Glacier Building at 657 SW Glacier Avenue in Redmond.
Community members bringing donations are asked to pull into the guest parking spaces designated with signage and red velvet ropes and unload in the area designated by the signs. All donations will be dropped off curbside, to adhere to social distancing protocols.
