RootedHomes opens lottery for Rooted at 19th affordable Net Zero homes in Redmond

REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- RootedHomes is excited to announce the opening of the Rooted at 19th housing lottery. This unique opportunity allows income-qualified homebuyers to own a desirable and sustainable home in Redmond at below-market rates. The lottery will be open to the public from Monday, March 31st through May 15th.
“With the launch of our first Redmond community, RootedHomes is opening the door to a future where more Central Oregon families can truly call this place home," said Tess Spellacy, Homeownership Program Director.
Rooted at 19th, situated at 345 NW 19th Street in Redmond, presents a diverse selection of homes. The community includes 22 net-zero energy duplexes and triplexes, comprising eleven 2-bedroom (1060 sq ft) and eleven 3-bedroom (1460 sq ft) residences. A renovated 100+-year-old, four-bedroom farmhouse (1663 sq ft) is also available.
The two- and three-bedroom homes are available to buyers earning below 80% of the Deschutes County AMI, while the farmhouse is offered to those earning over 80%. All new construction homes feature rooftop solar, passive energy-saving designs and come fully equipped with appliances, including a washer and dryer.
Jennifer Stewart, SPHR, one of RootedHomes’ employer partners and Director of HR at Mosaic Medical, added, “We’ve been dedicated to workforce housing for many years and are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with RootedHomes in providing housing solutions for our workforce. Two of our employees were selected for the Rooted at Simpson community in Bend, and we’re excited to continue our partnership on the upcoming Rooted at 19th community in Redmond.”
Rooted at 19th's standout feature is its community garden, a collaborative initiative with The Environmental Center (TEC). This garden will provide residents access to fresh, locally grown produce and offer enriching educational opportunities through TEC’s School to Garden program.
The homes are priced considerably below current market rates: $258,000 for the two-bedroom and $293,000 for the three-bedroom residences. The spacious four-bedroom farmhouse will be offered at $380,000. To further support homebuyers needing financial assistance, $18,000 in down payment assistance is available per household. Recognizing local veterans' service, RootedHomes also offers a preference point to any veteran who applies.
Income-qualified applicants who have completed a mandatory information session and obtained mortgage preapproval can apply through the RootedHomes website.
