Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office holding two-night Community Academy in Sisters
The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting a Community Academy in Sisters Wednesday and Thursday of this week, May 15-16 from 6-9 p.m. It will be held at the Sisters-Camp Sherman RFPD Community Hall, located at 301 S. Elm St. in Sisters.
Each night will feature a different presentation, and the public is welcome to attend either night or both. The Community Academy is an opportunity for the public to learn more about their Sheriff’s Office and its different divisions and their members.
Wednesday's session will feature an introduction to our Command Staff and presentations regarding our Patrol Division, the Corrections Division, deputies assigned to the city of Sisters, DUII and Traffic Enforcement and our SWAT team.
Thursday's session will feature presentations regarding our School Resource Deputy program, Detectives, Search and Rescue/ Emergency Management, the Street Crimes Unit and the K-9 Unit.
The Community Academy is free and open to all members of the public to attend. No pre-registration is required.
The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office is a full-service agency that oversees the adult jail, provides patrol, criminal investigations, civil process and search and rescue operations. Special units include SWAT, Street Crimes, Marine Patrol, ATV Patrol, Forest Patrol, along with six K9 teams. Founded in 1916 and today led by your duly elected Sheriff L. Shane Nelson, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office serves over 200,000 residents in Deschutes County. The agency has 263 authorized and funded personnel, which includes 178 sworn employees who provide services to the 3,055 square miles of Deschutes County.
