It was standing room only in Sisters at Senator Ron Wyden’s town hall meeting
SISTERS, Ore. {KTVZ} -- Residents from around Central Oregon showed up in Sisters Tuesday evening to meet and greet Senator Ron Wyden.
Oregonians expressed their concerns to the senator, and asked many questions.
Karen Brozobich, Bend resident, said: “I'm especially concerned about longer-term issues like living-wage jobs for people who don't have the four-year degree.”
Reid S., who is a nurse, said: “I’m concerned about the stability of the U.S. health care system. I am concerned about the stability of the Social Security Administration and system.”
Monica Tomosy, a Sisters resident, said: “I know somebody who works in one of the departments in Washington, D.C., and the Musk- DOGE (Dept. of Government Efficiency) boys came in, told her to get out of her seat. She works in systems administration. They brought servers in from Elon Musk and they downloaded the data from the department and from the department servers to the Musk servers. So I'm concerned about what's going to happen to that data.”
Marlene Myers, a Bend resident, said: “My biggest question is, is it time to replace Senator (Chuck) Schumer? And if so, would a progressive Democrat replace him?”
Other citizens were concerned over the overall stability of the country.
Phil Garrow, Sisters resident: “I'm worried about this next four years, but I'm also worried about the four years after that and what kind of a legacy we're leaving for our children and our grandchildren.”
Elaine Barlow, Bend resident: “I really want to know what the Democrats' plan is for fighting back against Trump.”
It's clear: Many Oregonians are concerned about the future and direction of the country, specifically here in Oregon.
Senator Wyden also said he would not be running for president. He says he wants to work at lower levels of government so that he can work directly with the people and truly make an impact.
