SISTERS, Ore. (KTVZ) -- A suspect in an incident that began in downtown Sisters was taken into custody in a traffic stop near the city, Deschutes County sheriff's deputies said Tuesday.

"The situation has been fully contained, and there is no ongoing threat to the community," the sheriff's office said in a Facebook post.

Deputies responded to an incident that began at a location in downtown Sisters.

DCSO Public Information Officer Jason Carr told KTVZ News he could not yet be more specific, but that more information will be released later Tuesday.

The suspect left the area and was stopped and safely detained near Highway 20 and Plainview Road, just outside of Sisters, they said.

"Deputies remained on the scene to complete the investigation, so the public will see a significant law enforcement presence in the Sisters area," the agency said. "We appreciate the public’s cooperation and patience during this response. Additional details will be shared as they become available."
