‘I’ve been absolutely loving it!’: Bend visitors express appreciation for the Olympics as the Games come to a close

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- It's been 19 days of pure strength, competitiveness and camaraderie at the 2024 Paris Olympics, watched by people around the world, including on the High Desert.

We've seen Team USA come out on top, taking home 40 gold medals, whether it was long jumper Tara Davis-Woodhall taking that leap to victory or swimmer Katie Ledecky splashing away the competition.

People in Central Oregon were tuned in, rooting on their favorites.

Daniel Lempres is visiting from California, and shared his excitement over the Olympics.

"I've been watching the Olympics the last couple of weeks. I've been absolutely loving it! It's one of my favorite times of the year, especially in the summer."

David Endres is also visiting Bend and has roots in Central Oregon.

"I'm an Oregon State grad, and Jade Carey was an OSU gymnast, and so she was one of the members of the Olympic team - and so I really cheered her on."
