1 woman dies, another man still in serious condition after a Friday night car crash on Highway 97, Oregon State Police say

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- A La Pine woman was killed and a Madras man is fighting for his with serious injuries, after a 2 car-crash on Highway 97 near Terrebonne Friday night. Oregon State Police are investigating the cause.

On Friday, December 27, 2024, at 4:57 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 97, near milepost 117, in Deschutes County.

The preliminary investigation indicated a northbound Ford F250, operated by 45 year-old Madras man, Benjamin Troy Boynton Jr., crossed the centerline for unknown reasons and struck a southbound Jeep Wrangler, operated by Rebecka Ann Perrine, a 43 year-old women from La Pine.

Rebecka Ann Perrine, the operator of the Jeep, was declared deceased at the scene. 

The operator of the Ford, Benjamin Troy Boynton Jr was seriously injured and transported to an area hospital.

The highway was impacted for approximately two hours during the on-scene investigation. The cause of the crash is under investigaiton.

OSP was assisted by Redmond Fire, Redmond Police Department, Deschutes County Sheriff's Office, and ODOT.
