Businesses have seen an influx of sales due to the recent snowfall at Mt. Bachelor

(Update: Adding video, comments from Powder House owner, Tactics staff, customer)

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) --  Mt. Bachelor opened two weeks ahead of schedule, as well as clocking in one of the highest bases, in the country. This winter season, so far, Mt. Bachelor has seen more than 200 inches of snow, for its season total.

With the influx of snow, it's pushing people to buy snowboarding and skiing products. Customers, coming into Powder House Ski and Snowboard, were stoked to get new gear.

"We came here today to get new boots," Bend resident Ben Johnson said Sunday. "We need a new ski gear. I heard this was the place to come, and we're going to be getting new skis and boots and want to do a lot of ski."

During the holidays, Powder House in Bend saw anywhere from 300 to 600 people a day.

The owner, Todd McGee, says they've seen a tremendous increase in business.

"Right now we've had to reorder our ski and snowboard and nordic boots, twice. So we've definitely got a lot of demand on the boots."

Tactics in downtown Bend's assistant manager, Grant Stein, says business is booming. There's one item flying off the shelves, more than others.

Stein said, "Boots is the biggest one. A lot of people getting into snowboarding, the first thing that you need to get is boots."

"And then everything else from there, like bindings and board is next," he said. "But I would say boots is the most that are going out of the shop right now."
