Millions of ‘burst-proof’ expandable hoses recalled for burst risk
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of roughly 3.6 million "HydroTech 5/8-inch Expandable Burst-Proof Hoses," following reports that the hoses can burst unexpectedly.
Despite being marketed as “burst-proof,” manufacturer Winston Products says it has received more than 200 incident reports of the hoses rupturing during normal use. More than two dozen related injuries have been reported, including two sprains and a bone bruise.
The recalled hoses were sold nationwide at retailers such as Ace Hardware, Home Depot, and Target from 2021 through April of this year.
Consumers are urged to stop using the hoses immediately and contact Winston Products for more information about obtaining a replacement or refund.
