(Update: Adding video)
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The Old Mill District is transforming into a Halloween wonderland this Friday, October 31, from 4 to 7 p.m., for its annual family-friendly Halloween block party.
Visitors can trick-or-treat at Old Mill shops, watch costumed pets parade through Center Plaza, and marvel at the Central Oregon Aerial Artists performing high above. One of the highlights will be the Witches’ Paddle on the Deschutes River, as local paddlers don their best witch hats and float from Riverbend Park to the Flag Bridge.
The Humane Society of Central Oregon’s Howl-o-ween Pet Costume Contest will be the main attraction at Center Plaza, near the GAP store. Registration runs from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Humane Society booth, with judging beginning at 5:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to the top three costumes, and while participation is free, donations are encouraged. Pet owners are reminded to ensure their animals are comfortable in costume and kept warm if temperatures drop.
The Bend Witches’ Paddle, benefiting MountainStar Family Relief Nursery, launches at 4 p.m. from Riverbend Park. Participants are invited to bring baby wipes, food, diapers, or other donations to support MountainStar’s mission.
With its mix of spooky fun, community spirit, and a touch of river magic, the Old Mill District’s Halloween celebration promises something enchanting for all ages.
