See Inside: New Photos Reveal Progress on Redmond’s Indoor Recreation Center

REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Redmond’s new indoor recreation center is drawing closer to completion, with newly released images revealing major strides inside the facility.

Construction crews recently finished hanging drywall in the entryway and office areas, while the pool zone is being excavated for a feature section that will reach twelve feet deep and include a slide. Officials confirm that the center is still expected to open in 2026.

Recent setbacks included a delay stemming from a roof paint coating issue. Project leaders opted to fully replace affected roof components to ensure long-term durability and quality—this decision postponed the opening by about four months but did not add any costs to local taxpayers.

The project team’s commitment to providing a safe and high-quality space, especially for aquatics, remains unchanged.

Earlier this year, the project weathered another challenge when a vendor imposter diverted nearly $500,000 intended for construction. RAPRD officials acted quickly, recovering about one-third of the lost funds, and emphasized that the loss will not affect the construction timeline or the center’s financing. The district has enhanced security procedures and remains vigilant to prevent similar cyber fraud incidents.

The recreation center will offer a range of amenities designed to serve Redmond’s growing community. It is part of a broader investment in public spaces meant to improve wellness, provide local youth activities, and support families year-round.

Community support and patience have been essential throughout the project’s hurdles, as Redmond looks forward to the new center’s opening next year.
