Bend updates parking code for 2026

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- City of Bend rolls out clearer parking rules and a streamlined ticket process starting January 1, 2026, aiming for fairer enforcement. The updates target EV charging, RVs, and commercial vehicles while shifting citations to Municipal Court.

New provisions require active charging in EV spaces and ban RVs or vehicles with protrusions from blocking sidewalks or lanes. Heavy commercial vehicles over 26,000 pounds cannot park in residential areas overnight from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. Trailers and campers face a 72-hour street parking limit unless attached to a motorized vehicle. Time limits now mandate moving one full block after expiration.

Parking citations move under Bend Municipal Court jurisdiction for consistent judicial oversight, like traffic tickets. Non-payment within 14 days triggers required court response, or face added fees and penalties. Starting January 21, handle tickets online at bendoregon.gov/parkingcitation or in-person; meter/overtime fines begin at $12, rising to $25 after 6 days and $45 after 10.

Parking rates, time limits, permits, enforcement tools, existing districts, accessibility rules, Sundays/holidays, and tow procedures remain unchanged. The Passport app continues for payments and permits, with ticket data syncing nightly to court systems.

Education runs January 4-19; new tickets process from January 20. Visit the city's website for details.
