Rep. Bynum Secures $6 Million for projects across Oregon’s 5th District
WASHINGTON D.C. (KTVZ) — Redmond is among several communities set to benefit from more than $6 million in new federal funding secured by Congresswoman Janelle Bynum for Oregon’s Fifth Congressional District.
The funding, part of the Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development package signed into law this week, includes more than $2 million for two Redmond projects. That includes support for the Cinder Hollow Affordable Housing Project, which will help create at least 30 new owner-occupied homes affordable to families earning 80% or less of the area’s median income. Another $250,000 will go toward safety improvements at the intersection of Highway 126 and 35th Street, adding a new traffic signal, bike and pedestrian crossings, and ADA-accessible features.
Bynum said the investments will help improve quality of life for families in communities throughout the district, from Redmond to Gladstone.
“These dollars go exactly where families need them,” Bynum said. “Early learning, community gathering spaces, safer streets, stronger infrastructure, and affordable homes.”
Other funded projects include $1.5 million for the Gladstone Early Childhood Center, $1.2 million for the Happy Valley Community Center, $850,000 for Milwaukie’s Kellogg Creek transportation project, and $850,000 for a new roundabout in Stayton aimed at boosting safety and supporting local economic development.
With this latest round of investments, Bynum has delivered a total of more than $14.7 million in Community Project Funding to Oregon’s Fifth District since taking office.
