Deputies searching for juvenile who escaped from Deschutes County detention center

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office deputies are searching for a 15-year-old boy who escaped Sunday night from the Deschutes County Juvenile Detention Center in north Bend.

Deputies said the escape occurred around 10:45 p.m. Feb. 22 at the facility on Britta Street. The juvenile is described as mixed-race, about 6 feet 4 inches tall, with a thin build, dirty blonde curly hair and glasses. He was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.

After learning of the escape, deputies began searching the area and issued a neighborhood alert to nearby residents, advising them to stay aware and report any sightings. Law enforcement personnel continue to actively search for the teen.

Anyone who sees someone matching the description or has information about the juvenile’s whereabouts is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately. The sheriff’s office said the youth’s name and photograph will not be released in accordance with Oregon law and standard juvenile procedures.
