Redmond Wrestling continues IMC success with win over Bend
REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The Redmond Panther wrestling team knew they were in for a battle, and they delivered under the spotlight Wednesday night.
“Well, we knew coming into it, it was going to be one of the tougher duals in the IMC,” said senior Orinn Hubbard. “So we feel pretty good about getting this one.”
Redmond secured a hard-fought 45-33 victory over Bend High, proving once again why they are the defending league champions.
“No matter who, what, when, where — we'll come out and be more physical. Punch you in the mouth. Just dominate,” Hubbard said, reflecting the aggressive mindset that has fueled the Panthers' success.
With the IMC District Meet just weeks away, Redmond is focused on defending its title. Thirteenth-year head coach Kris Davis has instilled a relentless mentality in his team, one that has made the Panthers a perennial powerhouse.
“We're tough, you know, we’re hard-nosed,” Davis said. “We’re going to come at you. We don’t let you up. We’re going to find a way to grind it out and put you on your back.”
Redmond wrestling isn’t just about competition — it’s about community, culture, and pride.
“It’s a special, special community of wrestling, and we’ve built that over the years,” Davis said. “It’s awesome to see how the community rallies around this team.”
That deep-rooted tradition fuels the Panthers as they gear up for the biggest tests of their season.
“When you wrestle a kid from Redmond and see ‘Redmond’ across their chest, you know you’re in for a fight,” Davis added.
For the athletes, wrestling is more than just a sport—it’s life-changing.
“It’s grown me as a person,” Hubbard said. “I would not be anywhere without wrestling.”
Redmond’s next challenge comes next Thursday at home against Ridgeview, before they turn their focus to the IMC District Meet the following week. With their sights set on another league title and a deep post-season run, the Panthers show no signs of slowing down.
