SISTERS, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Sisters High freshman media member Will Cohen said, "We've had the media program for a few years now, and we've been trying to build sports into it, and it's been fun. We just started the play-by-play last week, and we start a new segment called Outlaw Overtime. We are trying to broadcast all the sports we have, and it's been pretty fun so far."

Outlaw Media, a student-run media group, shares stories for all of Sisters High School to see. At the beginning of the month, Cohen and a few other students launched a new sports segment called Outlaw Overtime.

"It's a fun way to bring energy and just madness into the game," Cohen continued. "And it's just a cool way to bring sports into our school. And for people who are really into it, to bring it to our outlook, which is our news every week in the show, people kind of like sports and what's going on and Ssisters and how fun it is."

Cohen also plays football and baseball at Sisters High School, but his passion for sports goes beyond the field.

"I've always kind of been into sports since I was born - football, basketball, baseball. I've gone to a few sports broadcasting camps, and, it's always fun getting to the action. It's a fun way to just bring yourself into sports," Cohen said

Four years ago, the school’s media program was on the decline. But Jack Turpen, a freshman at the time, and a couple of others turned things around.

"I guess I just wanted to find a group of people at school that had similar interests that I could train, that we could work together on projects and really just fill a hole in our school that needed to be filled," Turpen said.

Now, as a senior, Turpen has watched the program grow into a full studio, with 18 students. Many of them are now working on Outlaw Overtime, along with broadcasting and play-by-play announcing at sporting events.

"Sports are consistent throughout history. There's always money in sports, there's always people tuning in to watch sports," Turpen said. "We watch sports to tune out of our own lives at times. So it's just - it's fast-paced, it's action. It's fun, you know? So, I think it's really cool that we can bring it to our own school."

With strong support from the school and the community, the media group hopes to keep growing.

"Yeah, I mean, all of it wouldn't be possible without the support from our community. Several people, like Sisters School Foundation who have supported us," Turpen said.

Cohen added, "And it'd be awesome to get by the time I graduate here to have just been a huge part of Sisters and what we're known as. It's just a massive sports media group, media in general. So that'll be awesome."
