Central Oregon wrestlers shine at state championships
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The Wrestling State Championships kicked off last week, and 34 Central Oregon wrestlers placed in the Top 3 of their weight classes!
Culver Claims 14th Title Since 2007
The Culver Bulldogs secured another state championship—their 14th title—despite not having an individual winner.
- Three wrestlers earned second place
- Four wrestlers finished in third place
La Pine Wrestlers Dominate in 3A
La Pine added more hardware to their collection:
- Devon Kerr & Landyn Philpott each won their 4th individual state championship
- Riley Flack also claimed first place
Crook County Wins First Title Since 2018
Crook County secured its 8th overall state championship and first since 2018.
- Gold medalists: Casen Villastrigo (106), Landon Lavey (138), and Gavin Sandoval (175)
- Four wrestlers finished second
- Three wrestlers finished third
Redmond Boys Finish 4th in 5A
While Redmond fell short of a title, they still had strong performances:
- Ryder Lee, Gannon McNulty, and Orin Hubbard finished second
- Two wrestlers took home bronze
Bend High Brothers Make History
The Larwin brothers, Eric and Leif, both won state titles for Bend High.
- Leif Larwin was named Most Outstanding Wrestler in 5A
Girls Wrestling Standouts
Central Oregon’s female wrestlers also delivered impressive results:
- Redmond finished 2nd as a team
- Gold medalists: Mia Pedersen & Mackenzie Shearon
- Bronze: Jaydarae Nance
- La Pine's Jade Seymour took first place
- Mountain View's Alana Troullier finished second
- Crook County: Taylor Echeverria silver
