Two La Pine athletes shine bright in their sports

LA PINE, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Two La Pine athletes are having a blast this fall. Scarlett Reisner is a senior cheerleader who doesn’t just limit herself to the sidelines. Scarlett, who has Down syndrome, is a four-sport athlete competing in soccer, basketball, and kickball with the La Pine Unified team, in addition to her role on the cheer squad.

It was through Unified sports that Scarlett became close friends with fellow senior, Jade Seymour.

Like Scarlett, Jade is a standout multi-sport athlete. She’s a state champion wrestler, a member of the softball and soccer teams, and this year she added football to her list, playing both as a kicker and a linebacker.

Both athletes are known for their spirit and determination, and now, on Friday nights, their friendship comes full circle. Scarlett takes the sidelines as a cheerleader, while Jade takes the field in pads and helmet.
