After a slow start, the Crook County Cowgirls got things going. They beat Astoria in the first round of the 4A playoffs, 59-46. Cowgirls play against Philomath in the state tournament Thursday at 1:30 at Forest Grove High School.

The Redmond girls kept La Salle at arms length throughout their first round game on Friday night. They beat La Salle 62-43, and will now face off against Summit for the third time this season at the state tournament in McMinnville March 12th.

Speaking of the Summit girls, the Storm came into their first-round game with the most regular-season wins in program history. The first half and into the third quarter, they were in a dogfight with Eagle Point, but through strong defense, the Storm prevailed winning 54-37. The Storm have a tough task ahead as they face the Panthers, who they have lost to twice this season by double digits.
