Crook County volleyball welcomes back Paige Wood in emotional surprise

PRINEVILLE, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Crook County High School’s Paige Wood has shown incredible strength and resilience since suffering serious injuries in a car accident earlier this summer.

Wood has undergone multiple surgeries and continues to fight her way back with the goal of returning to the volleyball court. This past week marked a major milestone in her recovery as she was discharged from the hospital and able to surprise her teammates at their annual Blue and Gold fundraiser game.

The moment was emotional, filled with both tears and smiles, as Wood wore her Crook County jersey once again. Her teammates have honored her throughout the season by wearing warm-up shirts reading Play for Paige, a gesture that has also extended to other schools across Central Oregon. Teams have additionally shown support by incorporating pink in her honor.

During the fundraiser game, Wood expressed her gratitude to the community, saying she deeply appreciates the support she’s received and that she loves the community that has rallied around her.

The “Play for Paige” movement continues to serve as a reminder of the strength of community, resilience, and teamwork. Shoutout to Paige, the entire Wood family, and everyone who has supported her on her road to recovery.
