U.S. Coast Guard rescue in Astoria after a man found himself in the Columbia River

ASTORIA, Ore. (KTVZ)-- A Coast Guard water rescue in Astoria after a man ended up in the Columbia River. An Astoria police officer says Thursday night they were checking on an elderly man near the rail of the new Young's Bay Bridge. He then jumped over the rail and into the bay. Members of the US Coast Guard dropped down from a helicopter and helped the man into a rescue basket. He was treated by first responders. The man was identified as 76 year old Noel Kilkenny, who was reported as missing and endangered in Virginia.
