SELCO Credit Union is collecting books for Central Oregon’s kids
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Kids in Central Oregon will soon have the opportunity to pick out books to take home, thanks to SELCO Community Credit Union and the SMART Reading program's second annual community book drive. You can drop off new or gently used books at any Selco Credit Union near you.
There are a only a few days left to donate your books, which Amy Luther, the program manager for the SMART Reading Program, says makes a massive impact on kids: "It's so impactful for kids to even have one book in their home. We know that research has shown that even having one book in the home can double their chances of being on track in literacy, and being able to have that choice of choosing books is also a big part of our program."
In 2024, the inaugural book drive collected more than 400 books for local kids.
