Smith Rock Way closed near Terrebonne for Deschutes County bridge replacement project

A portion of Smith Rock Way near Terrebonne has closed so Deschutes County can replace an old wooden bridge with a modern concrete one that can handle higher traffic and heavier loads.

Here are more details and the county's road construction update for the week of March 10-16:

Smith Rock Way Bridge Replacement (Terrebonne Area) – Bridge removal and pile driving work will be occurring at the Smith Rock Way Bridge.

Traffic Information – Beginning March 11, Smith Rock Way is closed to through traffic between NE 33rd Street and Lambert Road for bridge replacement work. A designated detour route is in place via Lambert Road, NE Wilcox Avenue and NE 33rd Street. Access for local traffic will be maintained during construction. Work hours are 7 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Hunnell Road: Loco Road to Tumalo Road Improvement (Bend Area) – Excavation and grading work will be occurring on Hunnell Road between Pohaku Road and Tumalo Road.

Traffic Information – Hunnell Road remains closed to traffic between Pohaku Road and Tumalo Road. Access for local traffic will be maintained during construction. Work hours are 7 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Gribbling Road Bridge Replacement (Bend Area) – Grading work will be occurring on Gribbling Road near the Central Oregon Irrigation Canal.

Traffic Information – Gribbling Road is closed to traffic at the Central Oregon Irrigation Canal for bridge replacement work. A designated detour route is in place via U.S. Highway 20, Gosney Road and Ward Road. Access for local traffic will be maintained during construction. Work hours are 7 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Powell Butte Highway & Butler Market Road Utility Work (Bend Area) – Utility work will be occurring near the intersection of Powell Butte Highway and Butler Market Road.

Traffic Information – Shoulder closures and intermittent lane closures will be occurring along Powell Butte Highway and Butler Market Road. Road users should exercise caution and expect delays of up to 20 minutes during work hours.
