Big winter conditions mean more demand at Powder House in Bend
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ)-- Big snow means big business for outdoor sports shops in Central Oregon. Over at Powder House in Bend, things are bustling this year.
There's been a big demand for Nordic ski equipment. Alpine ski boots are also selling, Powder House telling KTVZ they've had to restock them three times already this season. It's decided to bring new products in mid-season to meet the demand and start a sale. Of course, they hope the snow continues.
Todd McGee, co-owner of Powder House, said, "And when I was a kid, we had snow on the ground pretty much all winter. So it was kind of nice to see it again, and we need it for the summertime, too, for our reservoirs and stuff. But I hope it sticks around and gets nice and comes back again. It's always nice to have a couple of blue days up on the hill."
Certain types of snow goggles have sold out but are expected to be back in stock this week. There's also been a heavy demand for rentals and equipment maintenance.
