Two winter announcements hit the High Desert

KTVZ

Sunday, a Winter Storm Advisory is in place for western portions of Deschutes and Jefferson counties, that warning will remain with us through Monday, ending at 4 o'clock.

Heavy snow is expected in some areas like the mountains.

Here in our cities, snow will impact regions across the High Desert including: Bend, LaPine and Prineville.

We also have a Winter Weather Advisory, in effect Sunday at 10PM, and goes through Tuesday morning, ending at 4AM. This advisory covers the eastern portion of Deschutes, Jefferson and Crook counties.

Areas like Mt. Bachelor will receive up to 13 inches, and Santiam Pass will get up to 18 inches of snow by Tuesday.

Here in our cities, Bend may receive just over 2 inches, while Sisters may receive almost 6 inches of fresh new powder.

Expect wind gusts of over 36 mph. Those breezy conditions will remain with us, on and off through at least Wednesday.

We may experience a wintry mix of rain and snow beginning late Sunday then, on and off, through the rest of the week.
