Harney County flood threat eases, all evacuation notices lifted as repair and recovery efforts hit high gear

BURNS, Ore. (KTVZ) -- All evacuation notices in flood-stricken Burns area were lifted on Monday morning as the flood threat continues to ease as repairs and recovery efforts are underway, the Harney County Sheriff's Office said.

The properties near North Broadway Avenue and Foley Drive remained in Level 1 status through the weekend. Forecasts for the Silvies River remain favorable, with the flood risk significantly reduced.

With all evacuation notices lifted and as residents return to their homes, the Red Cross has closed the indoor shelter at the Harney County Fairgrounds Memorial Building, with plans to close the outdoor area. The Red Cross will continue distribution of emergency supplies and community meals until Saturday.

Well testing is ongoing, and the Environmental Health Program is leading these efforts with residents.

Over the weekend, 175 dedicated volunteers joined forces with Team Rubicon to support flood-impacted homeowners.

Repairs to 85 homes were completed. Several more homes received partial repairs. Damage and repairs assessments are ongoing, and the team is identifying future work orders. The team also hauled an impressive 58 loads of debris to the dump, helping to restore the community one step at a time.
