Mix of rain and snow early and a chilly night ahead

Good morning! Today brings a good chance for a mix of rain and snow showers before noon, then a slight chance of rain showers lingers through the rest of the afternoon to accompany below average temperatures in the area.

The system of low pressure just offshore is churning to the southeast and bringing arctic air with it, but first, a round of winter weather is here! Our mountain passes received their first significant snow and a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect through this afternoon at 5pm for the Cascades.

The majority of the snow is expected to have fallen above 4500 feet with a rain/snow mix expected possibly as low 2500 feet. The actual accumulations in the lower elevations will be very light. Precipitation will be strongest early in the day before this round of precipitation dies out and leaves us dry and extremely cool in the area.

Today the wind will be moving to the NE and will be in the moderate 10 to 15 mph range, with gusts as high as 20 mph possible in some areas.

Highs today in the mid to upper 40s as we prepare for a very chilly night with lows primarily in the 20s! Make sure to prepare your dwellings and stay safe!
