Snow likely Saturday, snowy pattern next week

The region will be in the crosshairs of several rounds of snow beginning tonight.  The snow event tonight will provide several inches of snow to the mountains and a few inches of snow to the high desert.  The temperatures are expected to be above freezing tomorrow so the snow at lower elevations will transition to a wintry mix in the afternoon.

Snow will continue to fall on the Cascades Sunday and taper off most other locations. The totals will be around a foot or more by Sunday night. Highs at lower locations will be in the upper 30s.

Another round of snow showers arrives Monday morning and will add another couple of inches at lower levels before transitioning to a wintry mix.

Tuesday will once again be another snowy day with the steady introduction of snow to the lower elevations. Amounts have yet to be ironed out, but we may get a few more inches added to the ground.

Wednesday will see yet another round of snow and as we push forward into the work week the temperatures will struggle to get above the mid-30s so most of the precipitation will fall as snow.

The snowy pattern continues Thursday as another area of low-pressure rides over the region. Friday will be much colder and one more round of snow will arrive.

Generally the region will be in the path of several waves of snow events that may be very problematic for the region. It may be wise to prepare for the paralyzing snow next week, followed by significantly colder air the following week.

There will be several feet of snow added to the mountains next week.
