Hazardous winter weather ahead this week

 A fine Monday to you, Central Oregon.  We have a wintry week ahead with snow likely this morning followed by a chance for a mix of rain and snow throughout the day with cloudy skies.    

A Winter Weather advisory is in place until 4pm today for the East slopes of the Cascades as well as much of our forecast area due to expected snow accumulations of 5 to 8 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.

Also, starting at 4am Tuesday and lasting until 4pm Wednesday there is a Winter storm Warning and a Blizzard Warning above 3000 feet due to possible snow accumulations of 12 to 36 inches. Winds gusting as high as 60 mph. Travel could be very difficult to impossible so bring emergency kits with you if you must be in these conditions.

A Wind Advisory will go into place in much of the state including Central and North Central Oregon at 4am Tuesday and last until 4am Wednesday due to Southwest winds of 25 to 35 mph with expected gusts up to 55 mph.  Winds at these speeds can blow tree limbs, unsecured objects and also cause power outages.

Winds will be out of the South primarily at 10-15mph with speeds closer to 20mph in some areas and picking up to the 25mph range after midnight. Highs will be in the 30s and 40s and overnight lows in the 20s and 30s.
