Dry conditions today but wintry precipitation coming

Good Tuesday, Central Oregon. There’s a chance for some light fog early this morning and some areas will have freezing conditions presenting the chance for black ice or slippery roadways but no advisories are in place this morning.

Today appears to bring mostly clear conditions with similar temperature ranges to yesterday.  Although we expect dry conditions today, snow and a wintry mix is on the way as a low pressure system stemming from the central Pacific brings a round of precipitation across the forecast area Wednesday into Thursday

A Winter Storm Watch goes into effect from late tonight through Thursday evening along the east slopes of the Cascades including La Pine and Sunriver due to total snow accumulations of 10-20 inches in the crests and passes with 3-6 inches possible along the lower east slopes.  Travel could be very difficult to impossible due to hazardous conditions which may affect morning and evening commutes.

Winter Weather Advisories in South Central Oregon Cascades due to snow accumulations of 6-14inches and 45mph gusts and also in portions of Klamath and Lake County for 3-7 inches and 40mph gusts from 10pm tonight through 10pm Wednesday.   In both cases travel will be affected and visibility may be compromised by blowing snow.

Wind will be out of the North by this afternoon in the 5-10 mph range.  Highs will be in the 40s and lows in the 20s.
