Freezing fog advisory extended, a clearing by end of week
We’ve been dealing with freezing fog all week and today will be no exception. The Freezing Fog Advisory has been extended until 11am this morning. Be careful stepping outside and driving on the roads. It will be slippery in some areas and visibility will be limited.
Lower elevations like Madras and Warm Springs have seen little sunlight the last few days due to being trapped under the fog. Temperatures have only been topping out at around freezing each afternoon. Once again, the fog will inhibit some warming in those regions today. Highs will range from the upper 30’s to the upper 40s, with the higher elevations being the latter.
Some areas are waking up to a dusting of snow from last night and/or rime ice on their lawns and fences. Rime ice forms in freezing fog and appears feathery.
We should begin to clear from this foggy pattern heading into the end of the week. There is a chance for some fog in the lower elevations, but not to the extent we’ve seen.
Temperatures will rise heading into the weekend, reaching the low 50s. Cloud cover will increase through the rest of the work week ahead of some rain expected late in the day Saturday. As temperatures drop into Sunday, we could see some flakes fall but it looks minimal at this time.
Happy Wednesday and have a great day! Drive safely.
