Warming trend heading into the weekend

Highs today will reach the mid to upper 40s and lows tonight will be in the 20s. We’ll start this morning on the breezier side but winds will calm early this afternoon.

After a number of wet days, clouds will linger but rain is not expected to fall. There is a high pressure that’s moved in overhead, contributing to the drier conditions.

The dry weather is not expected to last long. There are a couple models producing rain for Central Oregon Friday evening, while other models keep the rain to the western side of the Cascades. I am leaning toward a dry Friday, but there is potential there for late afternoon rain. I will be watching the system closely and tracking potential changes.

Rain will return Saturday night into Sunday. Sunday will be pretty wet, with consistent and widespread showers.

Temperatures will climb into the 50s by Friday and even nearing 60 by the end of the weekend. This warming trend will increase snow melt and runoff into streams and rivers. Mild temperatures in addition to the rain expected this weekend means we could see some high and fast-moving waterways. A Hydrologic Outlook has been released by the National Weather Service for most of Central Oregon. There will be potential for minor flooding–something to keep an eye out for.

Happy Thursday, have a great day!
