Periods of rain are expected through the day today as a surface low pressure and its accompanying warm and cold front approach. The warm front will bring some rain this morning and the cold front will follow this evening, dropping our temperatures, and providing a mix of snow and rain overnight. Rain will accumulate between a tenth and a quarter of an inch today and little snow accumulation expected. A Winter Weather Advisory is active from tonight until tomorrow night for the Cascades, the eastern slopes, and areas south of Bend.

The John Day River at Service Creek is forecasted to crest today and rise above flood stage. A Flood Warning is out for this portion of the river until further notice.

Gusty winds are expected today and tomorrow. A High Winds Watch is out for areas along 97 from this morning to tomorrow evening. Look for winds to gust around 40mph with the chance for gusts to reach up to 60 mph. Sustained winds will between 20-30mph during this time. Bring in or tie down loose objects outside. Winds have the potential to down tree branches. We’ll be monitoring any potential power outages during this time.

There is a chance for a stray shower early tomorrow but the pattern will be an overall drying one. Drier conditions this week as temperatures continue to rise. Highs today will be in the 50s. We’ll cool slightly tomorrow following the cold front, but then heat up again through the week. 60s are in the forecast by Thursday or Friday.

Happy Monday! Have a good day.
