Warm and sunny today, showers returning Wednesday

Today will be a beautiful day, reminiscent of late spring or early summer. Look for temperatures to reach the upper 60s to mid 70s under mostly sunny skies. We’ll keep these upper 60s and mid 70s on Wednesday. Madras and Bend both have chances to break records today, but it will be close.

Much of Central Oregon is placed under a Hydrologic Outlook starting Thursday and continuing through the weekend. Mild temperatures we’re experiencing will increase runoff and the potential for flooding. Rivers, creeks, and streams will be running high and fast. To stay updated on the latest flood alerts, please refer to the banner at the top of the screen.

Rain will return late Wednesday with the chance for thunderstorms to develop. Our region is placed under a marginal risk for severe storms by the Storm Prediction Center on Wednesday. Best chances to see a good storm will be in the Valley and in our mountainous regions along the Cascades and north into the Blue Mountains, although I can’t rule out an isolated storm or two for Central Oregon. Stay tuned into KTVZ News and on social media for the latest updates.

Temperatures will start to cool Thursday and reach near normal by the end of the week. We’ll continue to see off and on showers into the weekend, with the chance for a mix mingled in at times in our higher elevations, but don’t hold out for accumulation. Snowman-making is out this week.

Have a great day! Happy Tuesday.
