Setting up for a wet and cool weekend

There is an upper level low that has been spinning off the Gulf of Alaska for some time now and today, it will start to dip down. Temperatures begin to cool and clouds are rolling in. Look for highs this afternoon in the low to mid 60s under partly cloudy skies.

The official first day of summer is tomorrow, June 20th. This occurs on the summer solstice where the sun is highest in the sky, making it the longest day of the year. Although the summer season is about to begin, Mother Nature has other plans.

On Friday, highs will only be in the mid 50s to low 60s. These cool temperatures are expected to stick around for the entire weekend. Saturday will be the coolest day of the week, reminiscent of early spring. Everyone is expected to stay below 60.

Rain also returns for the weekend! Although the timing might not be the most exciting thing, we are in need of some rain. Rain will begin tomorrow evening and we’ll see scattered showers in the night. Showers will continue on Saturday before tapering off overnight into early Sunday. Rain totals will generally stay below or around 0.10” each day.

There is a chance to see some light mountain snowfall this weekend, but not enough to pull the skis back out.

Have a happy Thursday!
