Active week of weather with periods of rain, gusty winds, and mountain snow

BEND, Ore (KTVZ) -
Another Atmospheric River event is expected to impact the Pacific Northwest this week. This will bring heavy rain to portions of the northwest, gusty winds, and even some mountain snow this week.
Today, you can plan for winds to gust between 25-35mph with the chance for a few showers. Highs will be in the 50s and low to mid 60s.
Most of the day on Tuesday stays dry and cloudy. It won’t be until late Tuesday night that rain chances return. Temperatures will drop into Wednesday and rain will turn to snow or a wintry mix early Wednesday morning for higher elevation areas.
Again, most of the day is dry Wednesday with Thursday and Friday expected to be most impactful with rain and snow at times.
The moment we’ve all been waiting for…mountain snow! The Wednesday to Thursday time frame is the best chance for the mountains to accumulate snow this week. We’re looking at maybe 8 to 16 inches right now, which isn’t enough to open the mountains, but it is a start. We will continue to provide updates to these totals throughout the week.
NOTE: A Special Weather Statement has been released by the NWS for the Cascades, eastern slopes, and Southern Deschutes this week for heavy rain and flood concerns, and the potential for heavy mountain snow. This is not too much of a concern for Central Oregon. The Atmospheric River will bring the greatest flood concern to the Washington Cascades, with some moderate to heavy rain anticipated at times across the Oregon range. Our biggest impacts will be felt in the second half of the work week with widespread rain and mountain snow.
Have a nice day.
