Gusty winds across High Desert with warmer temps and occasional showers

KTVZ-TV

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) - Today brings more snow to the Cascades and gusty winds across the High Desert, with gusts around 20 to 35 mph in lower elevations. Gusts could reach over 50 near Three Sisters.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for portions of Deschutes and Jefferson counties above 5,000 feet. Snow will impact the mountain passes, with heavier totals expected farther north toward Mt. Hood and Washington.

Across the High Desert, temperatures are warming up with highs in the 50s today. Wednesday will be mostly cloudy with a chance for occasional showers, though most of the precipitation will remain in the mountains. Any precipitation in the lower elevations will likely fall as a rain/snow mix or rain.

Thursday looks breezy and cloudy with periods of rain and snow at higher elevations. A few lingering showers are possible on Friday before conditions begin to improve heading into the weekend.

By Saturday and Sunday, we should see more sunshine with highs in the mid 50s to low 60s.

Looking ahead to next week, a ridge of high pressure builds over the West, bringing warmer weather. Temperatures could climb 10 to 20 degrees above normal. We could see the 70s in Central Oregon again.

It’s a bit of a weather rollercoaster this week, shifting from mid winter conditions to a taste of late spring.
