Hot conditions return, along with isolated afternoon storms

KTVZ

Bend, Ore (KTVZ) – The heat has returned to Central Oregon today as mostly sunny skies define the day. Breezy conditions are likely to develop in the afternoon heat. The winds will be noticeable but not overwhelming and may provide a bit of relief from the well above normal temperatures expected today.

There is still a chance for an afternoon storm to pop up in the heat of the day, so if you are out and about, keep an eye to the sky and listen for thunder. Highs today will top out in the low to middle 90s. This should be the last 90° day of the week as slightly “less hot” weather is expected into the weekend.

To our north there is a Red Flag Warning as the area will see a bit more robust winds than Central Oregon. The heat is on across almost all areas east of the Cascades today, so the dry and hot conditions are creating increased fire danger.  Please be aware of your surrounding and follow all burn bans and restrictions.

The mercury in the thermometer Wednesday will only top out in the middle 80s. That is still above our normal low 80s for early July, but not as hot as Tuesday. This will begin a run of several days without any rain chances.  The chance for rain is low today, but the chance for some showers the rest of the week is near zero.

The rest of the week will be similar as far as weather conditions are concerned. Highs each day as we head into the weekend will be in the upper 80s under mostly sunny skies.

The weekend will be a typical summer weekend although a few degrees above normal.  Highs approach 90 both days under sunny skies.

Monday will be the start of a minor heat wave as highs top out in the low 90s into at least the middle of the week.

Please, Stay safe.
