Shepherd’s House needs socks, gloves for homeless
The Shepherd’s House, an organization that serves Bend’s homeless, urgently needs socks and gloves.
“With November’s already low temperatures, our supply of socks and gloves is down to almost nothing,” says Curt Floski, Executive Director at The Shepherd’s House.
In combination with the successful Thanksgiving meal last week and the opening of the Redmond Cold Weather Shelter early in November, socks and gloves have become some of the most desired items.
Winter is just starting and when temperatures drop, fingers and toes are some of the first parts of the body exposed to frostbite. Wool socks and wool and waterproof gloves help prevent potential risks of frostbite.
The Shepherd’s House reaches out to assist the homeless in Bend every day by providing clothing, meals and outreach to help the homeless restore their lives. The Shepherd’s House provides over 35,000 meals and over 12,000 nights of shelter annually.
In addition to socks and gloves, other items including new and gently used sleeping bags, tents and coats can be dropped off at The Shepherd’s House location on Division Street north of Revere avenue in Bend. Financial donations can be made online at http://myshepherdshouse.org/
