Redmond police seek SUV driver after chase, search
Redmond police are seeking the public’s help in finding a driver who refused to pull over late Saturday night, sparking a pursuit that turned into a two-hour search after he and a passenger got out and ran.
An officer tried to stop the Chevy Tahoe SUV for a traffic violation on Southwest Glacier Avenue near 12th Street shortly before midnight Saturday, said Sgt. Curtis Chambers.
The driver wouldn’t pull over and was pursued to the area of SW 24th Street and Umatilla Avenue, where he stopped and fled on foot, as did one of three passengers. Chambers said the other two occupants stayed with the car and were contacted by police but not arrested, as they did not commit a crime.
A two-hour search of the area that involved Redmond and Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office K-9s did not turn up the driver, Chambers said. He declined to provide more details due to the ongoing investigation, but did say no one was injured in the incident.
Anyone with information that could help police in regards to the dispute was asked to contact the department through Deschutes County dispatchers at (541) 693-6911, or by contacting the agency through the Redmond police Facebook page, regarding Case No. 2014-00363519.
