C.O. businesses get ‘Pacific Power’ scam calls

KTVZ

Pacific Power reported Tuesday a surge of scam calls to small businesses in Central Oregon in recent days involving callers who claim to be with the utility and are demanding payment.

Spokesman Tom Gauntt said Pacific Power’s call center got calls reporting the scam calls to small businesses in Bend, Redmond and Prineville.

Gauntt said the utility does not operate in such fashion and to call 800-221-7070 if you suspect a collection call is too aggressive.

“So far, we have no report of any customer actually turning money over to the scamsters,” Gauntt said.
