Kelsey Merison
Sunrise Anchor / Multimedia Journalist
Central Oregon, it's lovely to meet you!
I am an Oregon native and graduate of Oregon State University. I left Oregon in 2021 to move to Montana, pursuing my career in journalism. I worked as a Multimedia Journalist in Billings, covering all things Montana, winning awards from the Montana Broadcasters Association with my news team.
After three wonderful years in the Treasure State, I decided it was time to move home to be closer to family. That's how I ended up in Bend!
But how did I get into this field? It was my childhood dream to work in news following an elementary school assignment.
When I was in the 6th grade, myself and classmates were assigned jobs to study for two weeks before heading out on a field trip to JA BizTown in Portland. We spent a day in the simulated town, where I was assigned the role of News Anchor.
I quickly fell in love with the position and knew I had to work to make my dream a reality. Fast-forward 14 years and I'm thrilled to be able to continue my passion for storytelling and connecting with the community through my career.
When I'm not at work, you can catch me snowboarding on Mt. Bachelor, hiking with my dog, Nova, or fishing the Deschutes! Connect with me on social media to see some behind the scenes content: @kelseymerison_tv
I am beyond excited to be living and working in Bend and look forward to highlighting all things Central Oregon with the awesome team at NewsChannel 21!
