God’s Closet provides clothing for children, needs donations

BEND, Ore.. (KTVZ) —A charity dedicated to finding clothes to give to children is going strong. Twice a year for the last four years, God's Closet has been giving away free clothes to kids. This Sunday, the 27th from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., children's clothes are available to anyone who needs them.

There are also some shoes, some winter jackets, and even a few toys for kids. And the children get so excited about the toys.

Lois Bass, Director of God's Closet said, “The children get so excited about the toys. And that's why we're happy to have the toys, especially some of them who are kind of fussy and they’re a little scared or whatever. And we bring them and let them pick up a toy, and then it calms them down and they're happier.”

With nearly 300 families in need, these clothes go quickly. God's Closet needs more donations to meet the needs they see in the community. It's located at Cascade Seventh Day Adventist Church on Brookswood Boulevard in Bend. Donations of gently used clothing are taken year-round through the donation box located outside the church.
