REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The Deschutes Children’s Foundation Board of Directors announced Thursday that their partnership with Deschutes County to operate the Becky Johnson Community Center in downtown Redmond was renewed for a second 20-year term.

The 10,000-square-foot building was constructed in 2000 to provide clinic, classroom and office space for Deschutes County health programs and nonprofits that serve children and families. Deschutes Children’s Foundation manages the property at no cost to Deschutes County.

“Our mission is to provide the space and support for nonprofits to succeed at helping children and families,” shared Deschutes Children’s Foundation Executive Director Amy Ward. “We’re so proud to continue this partnership with Deschutes County to ensure access to crucial services for children and families in Redmond.”

“Over 3,000 children and families receive help from our partners at Becky Johnson Community Center every year,” said Deschutes Children’s Foundation Board Chair Sarah Stevens. “Thanks to the vision and collaboration of the Board of Commissioners, children and families in Redmond will continue to access the resources they need to thrive at this vibrant location.”

“We’re so thrilled to be able to support the important work of the Deschutes Children’s Foundation and their non-profit partners,” said Deschutes County Commissioner Patti Adair. “Now more than ever it’s critically important that our kids and their families can access the services they need.”

Nonprofit partners at the Becky Johnson Community Center include Deschutes County Health Department, Latino Community Association, Big Brother’s Big Sisters, Beulah’s Place, Cascade Youth and Family Center, Saving Grace, NeighborImpact Head Start, and WIC.
