Bend Man Jailed in Violent DUII Crash

KTVZ

A 23-year-old Bend man was arrested on DUII and other charges charges late Thursday night after crashing his car through a fence and into a backyard in northwest Bend, also hitting a power pole and causing a nearby transformer to blow, police said.

The crash occurred around 10:25 p.m. on Northwest Archie Briggs Road and Casey Place, also temporarily knocking NewsChannel 21’s 10 p.m. First at Ten on Fox broadcast off the air as well.

Officers said the driver, identified as Evan Michael Nelson, lost control of the car and it flew off the road, through a fence and into a home’s backyard.

The crash also knocked out power to some nearby homes, and Pacific Power Crews were called out to make repairs.

Nelson remained held at the Deschutes County Jail Friday afternoon, held on $10,000 bail on charges of DUII, first-degree criminal mischief and reckless driving.
