Driver Runs After 2-County Chase of Stolen Pickup

KTVZ

Police are still searching for a man who led them on an early-morning chase Friday from Crook County to Redmond in a pickup that was stolen late Thursday night in Bend.

Crook County sheriff’s deputies said they tried to pull over a silver Dodge pickup around 5:30 a.m., but the driver took off.

Deputies pursued the driver into Redmond, where he crashed near NE 17th and Hemlock Avenue, then took off running, apparently onto nearby BLM land.

Two K-9 teams were brought in but were unable to track the driver down, with Oregon State Police and Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies called in to assist.

They learned the pickup had been stolen around 10:30 p.m. Thursday in Bend. The owner reportedly said it was unlocked, though the keys were not in it, and he didn’t know it was stolen until police contacted him.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crook County sheriff’s deputies at (541) 447-6398. You can also contact the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 1-877-876-TIPS, or use the form on KTVZ.COM’s Crime Stoppers page. You can remain anonymous, and you could be eligible for a cash reward.
