Shanna Mendiola

Shanna joined NewsChannel 21 as a Weekend Weather Anchor/Reporter in October 2009. She is excited to combine her genuine passion for the weather and Journalism here in Central Oregon!

Shanna moved to the High Desert from San Francisco, Calif. Her start in news began at KGO-TV/ABC7 SF where she interned for the “7 On Your Side” Consumer Unit, and the Assignment Desk. During that time, Shanna was mentored by award winning Journalists, Photographers and Meteorologists. She then went on to be a Production Assistant in the Newsroom.

A graduate of San Francisco State University, she holds a BA in Radio and Television. While at SF State, Shanna was the public relations director for the American Meteorological Society Student Chapter.

Shanna is also currently working on obtaining a degree in Meteorology from Mississippi State University’s Broadcast Meteorology Program.

She is a proud member of the Asian American Journalists Association. In 2008, she was selected to be an Anchor/Reporter for the UNITY: Journalist of Color Convention in Chicago, IL.

Shanna is thrilled to start her career here in Central Oregon. She considers herself a “Foodie,” and in her free time, enjoys exploring the different eateries in town.
