Man Finds Roommate Dead in Ore. Surf

KTVZ

Oregon State Police are investigating the death of a 55-year-old man whose roommate found his body in the surf at Nesika Beach, about 10 miles north of Oregon’s Gold Beach.

Police say there is no evidence the death is associated with a crime. The man found Friday was not immediately identified.

Senior Trooper Paul Rushton says the victim and his male roommate had been camping at the beach since Wednesday and planned to leave Friday. They were making separate trips to a nearby parking lot with camping gear. The roommate last saw the victim as the 55-year-old returned toward the beach area. About 15 minutes later, the roommate saw the victim floating in the surf.

A motorist in the parking lot called 911 and pulled the victim to the beach. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
